Today’s Writing Prompt: Write A Poem About Climate Change Or Sustainability

This week’s Daily Drafts & Dialogues writing prompts are focused on climate change and saving the environment. Today, try to get more reflective and creative with your writing and write a poem about climate change or sustainability.

Inspiration For Today’s Writing Prompt

For centuries poets have written about nature in a variety of different ways, often capturing how humans confront and neglect nature. See Poetry and the Environment.

And with the acknowledgment of the arrival of climate change, we now have a plethora of poems about climate change, as well as ecopoetry.

What are your thoughts on more contemporary poems about climate change? How are they similar and or different from poetry written about nature a century or so ago? Why might comparing them be important, or interesting at the very least?

Consider your own thoughts and feelings on the following quote. And feel free to leave a response on the bottom of the page to start a dialogue about this quote or today’s writing prompt.

“…Nature never did betray

The heart that loved her…”

William Wordsworth, Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey, On Revisiting the Banks of the Wye during a Tour. July 13, 1798
