Today’s Writing Prompt: Envision A World In Which No Political Parties Exist

Today’s writing prompt requires you to both think outside of the box, and to think critically.

The divisiveness of political parties across the world has reached new feats in our everyday lives. Political parties have turned us against one another, oftentimes violently, and have encouraged us not to speak to one another in earnest and with the goal of working together.

So, today, let’s start imagining a world in which political parties don’t exist and what that would look like. Ask yourself: what purpose do political parties actually serve, in the sense that we can’t go on without them?

As you work on today’s writing prompt, consider this quote:

“There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.”

John Adams

Also, here’s something interesting to look at while working on today’s writing prompt: Party Affiliation trends compiled by Gallup. The number of self-proclaimed Independents is on the rise.
