Creating a Timeless Mural by K.E. Creighton

I look up at the midnight blue sky spanning the brick wall, traced in dark acrylics, dotted with canary yellow stars loitering over the glowing foam of the tide and a small sliver of silvery sand.

I step back and take a photograph of the mural while no one else is looking so it will last in my memory. I’m not supposed to capture it because it’s against unspoken conventions, but I do anyway because I need evidence of this night.

I will leave soon, so no one knows for certain that I was the one who did this, that I was the one who erected new life on an empty factory in an abandoned lot, again. Unless, of course, they participate in my world of art.

Last week this wall had a giant rainbow and cactus with glittery Calaveras for flowers. Tomorrow, or the next day, or the next week, who knows? The art here is timeliness because it is constantly evolving.
