My Completed Version of Today’s Writing Prompt

Life After Action by K.E. Creighton

“Action!”

I watch as he pulls her arm. She’s trying to leave the room, but he physically forces her to stay.

I feel my anger beginning to funnel into a pool of hot rage. I’m not supposed to feel like this, am I? At least, that’s not what I intended when I wrote this scene a few months ago.

I’m supposed to feel moved by his support and love for her, not this.

How dare he trap her in that room? And make her feel helpless? Why isn’t she fighting back or resisting him? She knows how. She even taught him how.

“I’m going to protect you,” he says as if it’s a demand. She remains silent, does nothing, and looks at him with longing.

I actually write wrote this garbage? She’s supposed to be the more experienced undercover agent, for crying out loud! Now she looks ridiculous. Anything else she does won’t be believable now. Unless he helps her or does it for her.

I feel sick and ashamed. What is this scene saying? That love is about submission? That women are weak and need protection? Or is it lustful fodder for current pop culture? Regardless, I have no choice but to watch it all play out now.
