Today’s Writing Prompt: A Day in the Life of a Travel Blogger

Today, write about a day in the life of a travel blogger, or a moment in a day in the life of a travel blogger. Before you begin writing, however, determine what type of travel blogger you’ll be writing about. Do they travel to stay in luxurious hotels, eat interesting food, explore national parks, visit well-known historical landmarks, or follow a certain author’s life around the globe?

Wait for the Wind, by K.E. Creighton

She stood in a torrent of multi-colored leaves, the wind wild all around her. The ends of her hair were wrapped around her neck and her scarf was coming loose. She couldn’t see a thing with the wind blowing in her face like this. But Tom was taking photos as they reached the summit and his camera was angled toward her, so she was trying her best not to squint and keep smiling.

Later, when she sat down to write today’s blog post, she wanted to capture this moment perfectly for her readers. But the wild wind was making it impossible for her to realize what moment she was in at all. The wind blinded her and all she could make out was a blur of brown and orange.

“Look up!” Tom shouted so she could hear him over the wind. And when she did, she saw it, a soaring bald eagle. Its wings were massive and beautiful. And then within seconds, it was gone like an apparition, soaring away with the wind.

They sat on a boulder to take in the view after the wind died down. All the leaves around them had turned a variety of yellows, oranges, and reds. There was barely any green left on the hundreds of trees surrounding them. And the lake below was so still and clear that it acted like a mirror, reflecting back the colors of autumn. The air around them now smelled like autumn, too, rich and earthy.
